Life with Mr. Frank in the Clubhouse

Mr. Frank is someone that I met online via the Clubhouse (CH) on the night of Feb. 28th, 2021 at the moment when I was reinstalling the App for the third time. Yes, you read it correctly. I had tried to quit using this program by uninstalling it from my phone but clearly, I failed spectacularly. Yet this addictive action brought me Mr. Frank and his magnetic voice.

“I am not here to spread fear,” the voice said, “my goal of getting on this App is to try to convince as many people as possible not to go back to Great China or whatever they will name that new country.” What the hell, what is going on? I had never heard “The Great China” before and wished to hear more of it. How and why did he give my motherland that name?

In the next three days and nights, I followed Mr. Frank around, either to the rooms where he accidentally dropped in or the ones that he started. I quietly and hungrily grasped most of what he had to say. Finally, I understood that the term “Great China” means a country to be built, soon, by the Chinese-speaking people, as he calls it. It could be the current P.R.China, but likely bigger, as it could include Hong Kong, Taiwan, Mongolia, and even several other countries that claimed independence from the former USSR. It could be built after the Chinese-speaking people overthrow the current leaders in power, the Chinese Communist Party or the CCP in short. He explained. “A disastrous and bloodshed civil war (or even a WW3) is unavoidable.” “When that occurs,” he said calmly, “although I don’t know when it would be, it should be within our lifetime, I advise you all stay put, do not rush into a decision of going back. Never trust those who overthrow the government, no matter how much you wish to do so. They are absolutely not worthy of your heart. As they are brought up by their forefathers who are cruel at hearts. You can easily imagine based on what you know of Mr. Kim Yong En. They can be very charming when they show up in front of you. They can be very eloquent when they try to convince you to follow them. They can be seductive when they talk about their ideals of Freedom, Equality, and Democracy. How do I know? As I personally have many such acquaintances and even grew up with several of them. They are handsome, well-educated by the Western Educational System, able to speak multiple languages, having lived in democratic countries. They would fit perfectly the image of great leaders. What you would never know, however, is their true status. They would never disclose the very fact that they are the insiders.” The bottom line is that —

“They will never give you “their money” to let you do “your business!”

What Mr. Frank said often puts his audience in complete silence.

Oh my God!

They versus we. They are powerful whereas we are powerless!

He is trying hard to convince us, his audience, that the CCP is no different from any other Emperors of China who used to control the country. The CCP members think that they own the land, the mountain, the water, the resources, and even the people of the country. We, the slaves, do not deserve any of it.

It is shocking to me, of course. Particularly when I have almost forgotten my young life when I was in that land. What shocked me, even more, is the way he delivers his messages. He sounds so respectful, patient, educational, and somewhat authoritative to me that is entirely different from any other Chinese man that I have encountered before.

“Thank you very much,” he always starts his conversations with this sentence and then followed it by “What you have said reminds me of what Professor Qin has told me years ago.” He then would elaborate by telling us what Prof. Qin had told him face-to-face, demonstrating the very fact that his knowledge was based on direct contact with Prof. Qin, rather than on indirect reading his books. Obviously, what Prof. Qin speaks to someone is different from what he writes for publication in a totalitarian country.

“Thank you for your questions and your observation is very sharp!” He would say this whenever he gets challenging questions. He then would say, “Here is how I see it, and I must emphasize that you don’t have to agree with me. My understanding of this issue is based on what my father and my brother have told me. By the way, they work for the National Security Bureau.” Following this background information, who in his audience dares to disagree with an opinion from a person with firsthand knowledge of “classified secrets”?

“Thank you for joining our discussion and your question is honest and represents the view of the majority of our friends.” He says this whenever he is in the mood of educating his audience. What he means by “Our friends” are the ones ruled by the CCP. Very often he gives a long speech filled with stories that he heard from his grandfather, someone who had been through the Yan An Redification Movement and the Long March with Chairman Mao and Enlai Zhou since early 30s — meaning that his family has helped the CCP, the Emporer of China, to control the mainland China for three generations!

“I understand what you said and where you are coming from. I mostly agree with you as well. I just have a few points to add.” Whenever he is ready to argue strongly against someone’s opinions, he starts with these and then provides reasons to explain why he actually disagrees with his questioner. Of course, if you happen to leave the room right after his opening statements, you may not realize that he actually negates his listener’s point of view with plenty of stories that he acquired from his chats with top leaders, famous public intellectuals, actors, actresses, his grandpa, father, brother, and their close friends/colleagues… the list goes on!

Needless to say, what he has experienced is inaccessible to most of his audience, thus, uniquely attractive. To me tho, what he told us is more like Trumpism and Conspiracy Theory, except that my sixth sense tells me, he does not lie.

Apologize if I made you chill in the spine.

Thanks to the CH App that I met this mysterious Mr. Frank. His charisma is irresistible and his voice is captivating. He has led me to lose my virginity to the CH — meaning that he made me open my mouth for the first time in CH … a story for another day.
